ASD recognizes that the Armed Forces of the United States endure significant sacrifices to protect everyone’s safety and the security of the nation. Many members of the armed services are injured and, in some cases, severely wounded in the performance of their duties. ASD has made a commitment to help those who have served their country bravely and often returned home with injuries and disabilities.

ASD is partnering with two local organizations to further this goal of helping both past and present service members.

“Serving Those Who Serve” (www.servingthosewhoserve.com) raises money and building materials to assist elderly and injured service members and their immediate families and provides coordination for the process of adapting an existing home for handicapped accessibility or improvements.

Richard Bennett, ASD CEO and President, agreed to donate a corporate sponsorship which pays for supplies and materials. On “National Rebuilding Day” ( April 29, 2006) and again on May 20 th volunteers from ASD helped renovate a former service member’s home in Washington, DC.

ASD has also undertaken as a part of its corporate mission to provide morale, welfare and recreation-type services to uniformed military personnel serving abroad.

On Saturday July 22, 2006 ASD volunteers participated in a “stuffing party” under the coordination of “Operation USO Care Package” (www.usocares.org). This program has distributed over 800,000 Care Packages to deploying or deployed service personnel at embarkation sites or locations served by the USO. These “stuffing parties” help assemble care packages which, at minimum, contain a prepaid international calling card, a disposable camera, toiletries, and sunscreen.
