Provide local area network (LAN) management and user help service

ASD integrated and provided support for LANs consisting of UNIX, Windows NT, and Novell Networks; performed network diagnostics for all equipment; supported Microsoft Office and other OTS software; automated user help desk for statistical tracking on Novell LAN; trained managers/users and provided network security; served as initial point-of-contact for problem resolution and troubleshooting for 400 users; provided network engineering and system design.

Provide assistance in business process modeling of functional activities through instruction, facilitation, and/or studies

ASD provided senior functional analysts to the Medical Logistics Project using IDEF tools and related concepts; modeled the "to-be" business activities and data requirements; and created a strategic systems development plan for the defense Medical Logistics Standard Systems (DMLSS).

Direct technical support to the Program Office

ASD developed requirements matrix and test evaluation master plan; analyzed system architecture; provided alternative concepts; employed industry standard hardware and software testing protocols; evaluated all activities through alpha implementation; assisted in identifying cost-performance tradeoffs; validated technical performance and supported MAISRC milestones; and certified system readiness for DT&E.

Acquisition and Technology
Provide systems operations, software, technical, and installation and integration support of network

ASD determined specific office system configurations based on user business process requirements; engineered, implemented, and administered e-mail system across multiple gateways and operating systems; integrated MS-DOS, UNIX, Windows NT, and Apple operating systems; assured interoperability of office automation test, spreadsheet, and graphics files and established system backup capabilities; and provided direct user support for the Deputy Secretary of Defense and the Under Secretary of Defense (A&T).

Defense Information Systems Agency
Provide management and technical assistance using modern tools and techniques to introduce the best commercial practices in the Federal Government

ASD supported business process improvement; integrated management processes; consolidated information systems; improved standardization; and migrated to open systems environment.


Social Security Administration
Operate end-user information center

ASD provided initial point-of-contact for 70,000 nationwide users; provided technical assistance to the SSA network; demonstrated and evaluated hardware/software; provided basic to advanced training courses for over 300 software applications; maintained technical library and the SSA IC Administrative Tracking System and its documentation; created configuration standards and developed policy for computer-related services; and performed technology assessment and provided programming assistance.


Health Care Financing Administration
Operate and manage end-user computing center and mainframe help desk

ASD provided point-of-contact and problem resolution for PC, mainframe, and mini computers trouble calls; maintained and managed IBM's Information Management problem tracking system; supported users connected directly to the mainframe; and used support tools to assist in problem resolution, disk volume management, and network management.


Federal Emergency Management Agency
Provide an integrated (all hazards) Federal Emergency Management Assessment System (FEMAS)

ASD analyzed overall functional, hardware and software requirements for an integrated FEMAS; designed and developed an earthquake impact projection model incorporating an expert system, COTS software, and a GIS package in a Windows environment; and converted and enhanced the resolution of capacity shortfalls model, an economic impacts model, from FORTRAN to C.

Design and install Novell Local Area Networks (LANs)

ASD conducted site surveys and provided needs determination; evaluated proposed hardware and software; conducted equipment testing and provided systems configuration; installed and provided support services for hardware and software; conducted network testing; and provided systems administrator training.

Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command
Navy's Paperless Ship Initiative

ASD conducted site surveys and prepared installation/system test plans; designed and installed CD-ROM and WORM user interface systems onboard Navy ships and at shore command sites; created software to download data from SNAP files and interfaced to workstations using SUPER VULCAN; prepared quality assurance plans and provided post-installation support; conducted hands-on training for end users and system administrators; and provided trouble-desk assistance and on-call engineering.

Office Automation Secure Information Systems
Provide hardware, software, application development, systems integration, systems support and training

ASD implemented and staffed a User Help Desk supporting 400 users and provided immediate online assistance to UNIX, MS-DOS, and Windows end users; provided network maintenance for the classified and unclassified networks; provided LAN installation; and provided software maintenance and transition support activities.
