FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – (July 27, 2007)
RICHARD L. BENNETT NAMED ONE OF FIFTY INFLUENTIAL ENTREPRENEURS IN BUSINESS
(Arlington, VA) – Richard Bennett, President and CEO of Advanced Systems Development,
Inc. (ASD) was honored by the Minority Enterprise Executive Council as one of
“Fifty Influential Entrepreneurs in Business.” The awards were announced at MEE
Council’s 9th Annual Awards Gala held in Washington, D.C. The awardees
are small, minority and women-owned business owners selected from a large field
of nominees and announced on July 27, 2007. The honorees will be featured
in the August/September 2007 edition of Minority Enterprise Magazine (MEA).
Mr. Bennett was recognized for his strong leadership of ASD in serving the
Department of Defense as well as other Federal Agencies. Since founding
the company in 1979, Mr. Bennett has focused on continuous process improvement
which is demonstrated by ASD’s Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity
Model Integration (CMMI®) Level 2 rating.
“It is an honor to be selected by the Minority Enterprise Executive Council,”
said Bennett. “Information technology (IT) is a very competitive business. To
be successful in IT for 28 years is a feat in itself. Our primary focus
has been on delivering the best possible enterprise-wide IT support services
to our customers. ASD is proud to be a ‘Trusted Agent’ for many of the
Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and Washington Headquarters Services
(WHS) components, the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, and Missile
Defense Agency. We plan to continue this legacy well into the future,”
said Bennett.
Under Bennett’s leadership, ASD supports a number of community outreach associations
to include: the USO, NDIA, NCMA, AUSA, ITEA, AFCEA, and others. ASD
received the 2006 Arlington Best Business Award (ABBIE) for its corporate sponsorship
and partnership with “Rebuilding America,” an organization that raises monetary
donations and provides building materials and labor to assist injured service
members, their families and the elderly, in adapting their existing homes for
handicapped accessibility or improvements. ASD employees, who spend their
work days delivering IT solutions to Pentagon customers, volunteered several
days to serve as painters, plumbers, and anything else they could do to help.
ASD is committed to initiating a program to help transition back into the workplace
those members of the Armed Forces who have been severely injured while serving
our county in combat.
Founded by Richard Bennett in 1979, ASD is a small, minority-owned business
that graduated from the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program in 1992. ASD
provides IT services to the Department of Defense and Federal Agencies from its
headquarters located in Arlington, Virginia, offices in Huntsville, Alabama,
and Herndon, Virginia, and from numerous client sites located across seven states
and the District of Columbia. |
